Milwaukee County EMS and Village
EMT-Advanced personnel
Participate in Medical Studies
The Village of Hales Corners participates in a County-wide Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agreement that ensures consistent, county-wide access to Advanced Life Support (ALS) paramedic services for an EMS response. As part of the County-wide services; The Village of Hales Corners receives paramedic service primarily from The Franklin Fire Department and occassionally from The Greenfield Fire Department. All paramedic and EMT Advanced units within the County, including the Village of Hales Corners Fire Department, are required “to participate in research as determined by the County Research Committee.” These studies are highly regulated by various federal agencies. The two-part study relates to treatment aspects for cardiac arrest events: one part is an interventional drug study and the other part relates to CPR techniques. Study protocol requires that an individual “opt out” if they do not want to be automatically included in the study in the event of a cardiac arrest event where an ambulance responds. All residents are encouraged to read the informational materials provided by the studies or “opt out”(see links below).
